The MARC team

Meet the team at MARC who are devoted to memory research on behalf of Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, and in collaboration with the University of Southampton.

Research Nurse

Lynn is a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with extensive experience of working with people with dementia. Lynn ensures studies are facilitated in accordance with specific company protocols and assists in study procedures such as psychometric and carer assessments /rating, blood sample preparation, ECGs, and medication management.

Suzanne Dodge

Suzanne Dodge

Study Coordinator/ Deputy Manager of MARC.

Suzanne has worked at the Memory Assessment and Research Centre (MARC) since 1999. She started out as a Research Assistant after graduating from the University of Surrey with a Psychology degree and went on to complete an MSc and MPhil in Health Psychology at the University of Southampton whilst working at MARC.  She has been a registered Health Psychologist since 2010.  Suzanne is one of three Study co ordinator’s working at MARC and looks after several drug and observational trials for people with MCI or Dementia.

Professor Clive Holmes

Clive is Professor in Biological Psychiatry at the University of Southampton and a Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry in Southern Heatlh Foundation Trust. He has been involved in clinical and basic research in Alzheimer's Disease for over 20 years with over 200 research publications in the area.   

Viv Hopkins

Viv Hopkins

Clinical Manager of MARC

Viv is responsible for the overall management of the Centre, including overseeing recruitment of patients for studies and general administration of trials.  Previously Viv was Ward Manager at the Western Community Hospital and has extensive experience working in Elderly Mental Health.

Dr Brady McFarlane

Director of MARC.

Brady is a consultant old age psychiatry based in in the New Forest. He acts as study doctor to the clinical research studies including screening of patients, interpretation of clinical findings and ensuring patients safety during clinical trials.

Dr Saif Sharif

Consultant Psychiatrist in Learning Disabilities and Principal Investigator

Saif was a learning disabilities consultant on the Isle of Wight with a long standing experience of clinical research in Dementia. He acts as study doctor to the clinical research studies including screening of patients, interpretation of clinical findings and ensuring patients safety during clinical trials.

Richard is an associate specialist in old age psychiatry with extensive experience of working with people with dementia. He acts as study doctor to the clinical research studies including screening of patients, interpretation of clinical findings and ensuring patients safety during clinical trials.

Annette Stevens

Study Coordinator/Registered Mental Health Nurse

Annette is a Registered Mental Health Nurse with extensive experience of Older Persons Mental Health in Hampshire and Dorset. Annette works as a Study Coordinator ensuring studies are facilitated in accordance with specific protocols, prepares and helps to run the research clinics, assisting in global/carer assessments, medication management and communication with the study sponsors.
