Dean Garrett - Head of Quality Improvement

A Chartered Physiotherapist, I have been Head of Quality Improvement since the team formed in 2018. I am so lucky in being able to combine this role with a clinical day as this allows me to have insight into the complexity of NHS systems through listening to the patients I see. Working with our teams and people across the Trust is so fulfilling – helping staff see how they can improve their service and patients experience at the same time as making their lives easier. The potential to improve is everywhere and releasing that potential makes such a difference.

Outside of work I have just celebrated my silver wedding anniversary by ‘climbing’ Mount Snowden (not fun at all!); have four daughters aged 25-16; have four dogs and some chickens. My  other passion is Tottonians Rugby Club and I am the club physiotherapist.

Nathan Clifford - QI Coach and Expert by Experience

As Expert by Experience lead and QI Coach, I have two parts to my job. I am most passionate about bringing service user and carer voices to the table of Improvement. I use my own lived experiences and support others to use their personal experiences to help inform and bring about positive change. I am passionate about Quality Improvement, and thoroughly enjoy supporting anyone in the Trust to embark on their own QI projects. Outside of work, I am enjoying raising my baby daughter, getting out on my motorcycle, and all things basketball.

Lara Kynvin - Expert by Experience

I work within the team bringing lived experience of the Trust's services into the various projects I am involved in. There's never a dull moment as I work on a wide range of Quality Improvement projects with the aim of improving services provided for our patients. It’s exciting to see how virtual reality and digital platforms can improve our services. Outside of work I enjoy life's simple pleasures all with the company of my gorgeous Tibetan Terrier, Lily.

Susan Tatsinkou - QI Coach

I am passionate about the Quality Improvement methodology and the difference it can make for ensuring quality care for service users, and improving staff wellbeing. Trained as a Quality Improvement facilitator in 2018, I have been channelling the ethos in my work ever since, to varying degrees of success; however the PDSA cycle helps me to remember a continuous cycle of improvement will get us there. A Health Visitor by background, my view is that early intervention is important, as it saves lives and reduces costs. During my home time, I love travel, music and immersing myself in different cultures and experiences, have two gorgeous girls to keep me busy!

Julie Simmonds-Love - Administrator

I am a QI Certified Leader and run the Administration for the QI Team. We are a busy hub for all things QI and as such, no two days are the same. Outside of work I am a qualified Yoga Teacher, beekeeper and all round small holder with 26 animals and three teenagers…I’m not sure which is more work!

Tom Charnock - Communications Officer

I am the QI Team's Communications Officer, and I maintain the web pages, QI Staff Portal presence, social media accounts and edit/write news and success stories. It's my job to ensure that word of the positive work of the QI team, and those who have undertaken QI training is shared across the Trust. Outside of work I enjoy motorcycling, running and gaming.
