We ask that Journalists and members of the media contact the Media Team in the first instance and do not approach our front line staff directly.  

If you would like to film or take photos of one of our services or sites, please speak to the team first. This is to protect the privacy of our patients and staff. 

Mental health reporting
Journalists looking for information on the most appropriate ways of reporting emotional crises or mental health issues - including suicide - may like to refer to the guidelines by the Samaritans which are supported by most media organisations and professional bodies.

    One of the biggest stumbling blocks to recovery for people with mental health issues is secure housing and employment. Successfully navigating these is a key step towards becoming independent. As an NHS Trust, Southern Health's core role is providing mental health care, but it's recently gone further - introducing housing and employment programmes for patients receiving treatment.

  • Second stage of review into Southern Health published today

    In February last year, NHS Improvement published an investigation report after Nigel Pascoe QC independently reviewed the historical cases of five people who died in Southern Health’s care between 2011 and 2015. The report recommended a second stage process to look at how the Trust has improved in the intervening years and the further developments we have planned.
