Shakespeare Road Medical Practice opens doors to local community

Shakespeare Road Medical Practice is opening its doors to the local community for a special celebration and welcome event on 15 March 2023.

Following a period of instability and change the practice is now being run as an exciting collaboration between a number of Hampshire’s biggest NHS providers.

The event will be held at the practice on Wednesday 15 March between 6pm and 8pm but you will need to book a place as space is limited. The event will give the local community an opportunity to meet practice staff as well as understand how this exciting collaboration will look to tackle some of the biggest challenges and health equalities being faced by the local population. There will also be the opportunity to get more involved with the practice and support the team in co-producing parts of the service.

The collaboration will see Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust and Solent NHS Trust, combine with Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and North Hampshire Urgent Care to use their resources and combined areas of expertise to tackle some of the big issues currently affecting patients. This includes how to scale up primary care provision to meet the current need, how to empower patients to better self-manage their conditions and how working closely with specialists can tackle some of the current issues facing the wider population.

There will also be a chance to hear what immediate issues the practice will be addressing over the coming months and longer term plans such as its aim to become a health hub where patients can come for support with their conditions.
