Please be aware, as of the 1st of April 2019 the Hampshire Liaison and Diversion service will no longer be provided by Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust. This service will be provided by Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust.
This service works with vulnerable people with mental illness, learning disabilities or autism who find themselves in the criminal justice system. It offers support and advice to these patients, as well as the Police, the courts and community colleagues.
Staff can make recommendations, support individuals to attend appointments and liaise with health services when a Mental Health Act assessment may be warranted and it’s believed an individual needs to be admitted to hospital for urgent care. They can advise the court if a defendant is suffering from a mental health problem, learning disability, speech and language difficulty, an autistic spectrum disorder or other vulnerabilities.
The team has three bases - in Basingstoke, Portsmouth and Southampton.
