Southampton Mental Health Services

Specialist adult mental health services in Southampton have recently changed.

improved mental health

This is in response to feedback from our service users, commissioners and referrers. We want to make the care pathway simpler, safer and more responsive when people are in need. We think the new way of working achieves this.

We now have three Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT) - East, Central and West. All referrals into our services will now come to these three teams during working hours (Monday - Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm).

Urgent out-of-hours referrals will be passed to our 24-hour Acute Mental Health Team.

We've also increased our capacity to support people out of hours who are feeling really unwell; we now have two practitioners providing crisis support instead of one and our Psychiatric Liaison Team at Southampton General is now available at weekends and evenings.

We continue to provide other specialist services such as:

  • Early Intervention in Psychosis team
  • Assertive Outreach Team
  • Custody Liaison and Diversion team
  • Psychiatric Liaison team at Southampton General Hospital
  • Rehabilitation services at Crowlin House and Forest Lodge.
