Our team - here to help you get better

We are a team of professionals from various backgrounds with special expertise in looking after mothers and babies. You will find names and photographs of staff on a notice board in the unit.

Melbury Lodge

If you've ever got any concerns, questions or queries, you can always talk to any member of our team. Some of the staff involved in your care and treatment include:

Nursing staff

We have mental health nurses who are there to offer you advice and support about a range ofissues including your illness and available treatments.

On each shift there is a qualified nurse and an unqualified nurse.

During the day, a qualified nursery nurse is on duty to encourage, advise and support you with the care of your baby.

Occupational therapists

Occupational therapists also work with the team to try to help you with any difficulties you might have with maintaining normal mental and physical activities.

Doctors and psychiatrists

We have a ward doctor working with the team most days of the week and a consultant psychiatrist who specialises in the care of mothers and babies, visits twice a week.

Day to day running of the unit

There is also a ward clerk and housekeeping staff who deal with important issues in the day to day running of the unit like answering the telephone, organising the cleaning, catering and helping mums out with day to day practical tasks.
