Information for Carers

We think it is very important that we work with families and carers of people with Learning Disabilities as they know the person best.

Each of our Community Teams work with families and carers.

Find out more information about how your Community Learning Disability Team works with Carers.

The Southampton City Community Learning Disability Team hold quarterly meetings throughout the year to consult and liaise with carers, to obtain feedback and ideas on our service.

The group also has a Facebook page, which shares relevant and useful information.  This can be found by searching for Southampton Learning Disability Team Carers Group.

Please contact the Carers Group Facilitators, Isabel Gurr or Rachael Middle, for further information on:

West Hampshire Community Learning Disability Service is dedicated to improving the service provided to adults with a learning disability.

We wish to develop our service and understand the importance of hearing carers views. To achieve this, a carers’ group for informal carers (family/friends/legal guardians) has been developed. The purpose of this group is to gain your views about the service we provide.

If you would be interested in being apart of this group, receiving minutes from our meetings or our newsletter, please contact Martin Johnson by emailing our generic inbox with your contact details.

Alternatively, you can speak to us by calling 02380 87 4333.

Our meetings for 2019

Friday 19th July, 10:00-12:00 at Totton Hub

Thursday 17th October, 10:00-12:00 at Hampshire House

We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to the group.

North and Mid Hampshire Learning Disability Health team covers Basingstoke and Winchester area. As a team, we are continuously improving our links with family carers and we are now excited to share that we have two Carer Champions within the team. The Basingstoke area champion is Fran Lloyd and for Winchester it is Marta Coates. If you would like to speak to either champion, you can do so by calling 01256 776151.

Our aim is to ensure that carers can provide us with feedback about the service we provide. This is then shared and considered in how we work in the future. (We of course do this for service users too!)

In addition, to help us with our service developments, we are also planning to set up ad hoc sessions locally as and when further work arises. If you would like to be contacted in these developments, please let us know.

If you can’t attend any groups but you would still like for your views to be included in our work, let us know and we can contact you on the phone or via the email when applicable.

We also develop Carers Newsletter every three months; you can download the latest copies below
