Money and working when pregnant:

Your employer must protect your health and safety whilst you are working. You are also protected against unfair treatment. Read about pregnant employees rights

When you take time off to have a baby you might be eligible for:

  • Statutory Maternity Leave

  • Statutory Maternity Pay

  • Paid time off for antenatal care

  • Extra help from the government

All prescriptions and NHS dental treatment are free while you are pregnant and for 12 months after your baby's due date.

Healthy Start  provides free milk, infant formula, vitamins, fruit and vegetables for pregnant women receiving certain benefits, and for all pregnant women under 18. 

Child tax credit gives financial support for children, and Working tax credit helps people in lower-paid jobs by topping up their wages.
