Specialist Community Forensic Service

counselling.jpgThe Specialist Community Forensic Service operates across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight and aims to reduce patients’ length of stay in forensic units.

About the service

The team is multi-disciplinary (including forensic psychiatry, mental health nursing, clinical psychology, social work and occupational therapy).

What we do

We work with patients who have a diagnosis of mental illness and have been in contact with the criminal justice system and are transitioning out of secure inpatient services.

We work closely with our patients as they move into the community so that they can eventually live safely and independently with the support of our community mental health services.

The focus is on offering the least restrictive care possible and providing an alternative to a secure inpatient setting. The service promotes recovery and improved access to community rehabilitation and local community/social networks.
