“Smoking often begins in teenage years as a social activity with friends and then we see groups of workmates huddled together during a smoking break. Yet often when people try to quit, they do it alone; you are four times more likely to succeed at giving up smoking with support from Quit4Life. Users of the service are amazed at how much it helps having the reassurance and encouragement from your own friendly adviser. You are not quitting alone.” said Gail Stringer, Senior Manager at Quit4Life.
Elizabeth, a user from Rushmoor, said “I highly recommend this service to anyone who would like to quit smoking - they offer so much support and are very friendly.”
The service, provided by Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust and commissioned by Hampshire County Council, is also launching its newest approach to quitting – its vape shop adviser service. Smokers who want to quit will be able to get expert advice and access to the vaping starter kit worth £25 from trained advisers in some vape shops across Hampshire.
“As a vape shop owner, and newly trained adviser I am really excited about bringing my knowledge of vaping to assist Quit4Life in supporting people to give up smoking. We encourage people in the community to come in and get the kit along with some expert support.” is what the new vape shop advisers say.
Quit4Life is a free NHS service, helping people in Hampshire who want to quit smoking. They offer one to one appointments at a range of venues across Hampshire including community venues, GP surgeries, pharmacies, vape shops and telephone support if you are unable to attend face to face appointments.
