Julia explained “We know to quit smoking can be difficult. We have a dedicated team of professional advisers who are committed to helping smokers who live or work in Hampshire who want to quit. We offer a range of support methods including weekly face to face appointments, sessions, telephone support, workplace support, self-help and online support that can make all the difference between success and failure. We have recently launched our new e-cig voucher scheme to support those interested in quitting with an e-cig”
Wendy said “Our new Quit and Get Fit partnership course with Hampshire Fire and Rescue has been really successful with one quitter getting a tattoo with the money she saved!”
Hayley, a professional hair designer from Eastleigh, decided to give smoking the boot after discovering she was expecting her first baby. Hayley has now stopped smoking, both her and her baby are really benefiting. “Now, I have no scary stories from my midwife, and no comments from others about the smell of stale smoke! I have clear skin, better teeth and my hair smells nice again. I feel so much happier! And I have more money to spend on things for the upcoming arrival of our new baby girl. It is scary, but you can do it! Do it when you are ready. And don’t panic if you have a slip-up – Quit4Life will not judge you, just help.”
Medicine for Members events give our members and the public the opportunity to learn more about the services we provide. Each event has a guest speaker, which offers those attending the opportunity to hear more about different specialties and conditions and gives them the opportunity to ask questions in an open Q&A session. There will be a number of different events across Hampshire throughout next year, which will enable local communities to learn more about the care we provide in their area and how the health service is responding to the many different challenges it is facing. If you would like to join find out more on our website http://www.southernhealth.nhs.uk/get-involved/membership/
