Insulin Safety Week 2018

Southern Health is taking part in the first ever national Insulin Safety awareness week, running from 14-18 May. Our West Hampshire Community Diabetes Service want to raise awareness of insulin safety to reduce the number of errors.

According to the results from the 2017 National Diabetes Inpatient Audit, almost one in five (18 per cent) people with diabetes who use insulin experienced at least one insulin error whilst in hospital.

With the aim to raise awareness of insulin safety, the West Hampshire community diabetes service will be running some drop in session for health care professionals to learn more about insulin care.

The sessions are as follows:

  • Monday 14 May – 1.00pm-2.00pm – Moorgreen Hospital (outside Lead education room)

  • Wednesday 16 May – 1.30pm-2.30pm – Newton house, Eastleigh

  • Wednesday 16 May – 2.00pm-3.00pm – Fordingbridge Hospital, Ford Ward

  • Thursday 17 May – 1.30pm-2.30pm – Avalon House, Community Nurses Hub

  • Thursday 17 May – 3.00-4.00pm – Lymington Hospital, Longbeech Ward

If you’re unable to attend one of the above sessions, please follow the link and watch this video.
