Antelope House is based in Southampton and has wards for both men (Saxon ward) and women (Trinity ward) with a functional mental illness – such as depression, a personality disorder or schizophrenia. It also has a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) called Hamtun ward and a Crisis Lounge.

Visiting hours are 2.00pm to 5.00pm and then 6.30pm to 8.00pm every day.

The Acute Mental Health Team is a community team providing intensive support and treatment in the person's own home. The team work with service users aged 18 - 65 who are experiencing a mental health crisis. 
 
Their approach to care is recovery-orientated and is delivered by a multidisciplinary team made up of nursing staff, doctors, psychologists and health care support workers, supported by our administrators. 
 
This team also supports service user in leaving hospital through a supported discharge process.

Getting here

The hospital is located on Brintons Terrace just off St Mary’s Road and Onslow Road and near the Jurys Inn roundabout. It is on the Royal South Hants Hospital site.

There are several pay and display car parks on the site – including one for disabled access only. Charges are: £1.50 for an hour, £2 for 2 hours, £3 for 3 hours, £4 for 4 hours, £5 for 5 hours, £6 for 10 hours and £8 for a 24 hour period.

A number of buses (Uni-link U6 and First 21 and 21A) stop near Antelope House.
