Antelope House is based in Southampton and has wards for both men (Saxon ward) and women (Trinity ward) with a functional mental illness – such as depression, a personality disorder or schizophrenia. It also has a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) called Hamtun ward and a Crisis Lounge.

Visiting hours are 2.00pm to 5.00pm and then 6.30pm to 8.00pm every day.

Hamtun Ward is a 10 bedded Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit ward which provides care and treatment to male and female adults aged 18 years and over Our approach to care is Recovery orientated and delivered by a multidisciplinary team made up of nursing staff, doctors, psychologists, health care support workers, chaplaincy, peer support and occupational therapists We work closely with our colleagues based in the hospital, including the Acute Mental Health Team as well as our community colleagues based in the three community treatment teams across Southampton

Getting here

The hospital is located on Brintons Terrace just off St Mary’s Road and Onslow Road and near the Jurys Inn roundabout. It is on the Royal South Hants Hospital site.

There are several pay and display car parks on the site – including one for disabled access only. Charges are: £1.50 for an hour, £2 for 2 hours, £3 for 3 hours, £4 for 4 hours, £5 for 5 hours, £6 for 10 hours and £8 for a 24 hour period.

A number of buses (Uni-link U6 and First 21 and 21A) stop near Antelope House.
