    Nicole's story

I am a staff nurse in the community with the Avon Valley team. I applied for this role because I had always wanted to work in the community and getting the right work/life balance was really important to me – I found community working offered me the best flexibility compared with the shifts I worked before on inpatient wards.

Southern Health is my local Trust and I really liked the idea of working at Fordingbridge Hospital, the added benefit being that it is nice and close to home! The work is hard, but I really like that I can manage my own caseload of patients as well as being part of a great team. I love working in the community and the variety this role offers; no two days are ever the same! I don’t struggle to make time for myself in this job, it is important to me that I can keep on top of home life and get to enjoy my hobbies like going to the gym.

I am proud of the many skills I have developed whilst working in the community and the friends I have made.

The great thing about my profession is that; with a nursing career you can work in many different areas and with a wide range of patient groups.
