The SHJ Team have been working hard to create a magazine that features real people talking honestly and frankly to raise awareness of issues that our colleagues and patients may face every day.

Working Through a Pandemic - Reflecting on the challenges of 2020
A lot has changed since the third edition of the SHJ launched earlier this year. In this edition of the SHJ, we reflect on the challenges of 2020, celebrate how communities have come together and tackle hard hitting topics. We talk to two NHS heroes about their work in the COVID-19 response. We also tackle the inequality we have all seen in 2020 and discuss how this impacts the NHS and Southern Health.
This edition features an emotional and moving article about the darker side of caring and the challenges Louise has faced caring for her sister during the pandemic. We also feature poems from a young patient at Austen House, who has discovered a creative outlet and new found gift in poetry during this difficult year.
We know this year has created such hardship for all of us in one way or another. Many have suffered loneliness, isolation, some have lost their employment or even loved ones. We hope this magazine, the SHJ, brings you some joy at this festive time of year.
