On 14 November, Southern Health’s South East Hampshire Community Diabetes Service is linking with Diabetes UK and The Solent Diabetes Association to celebrate World Diabetes Day with their annual patient conference.
Entitled ‘The Diabetes Puzzle - putting the pieces together’, the conference is being held at Mountbatten Leisure Centre in Portsmouth. It will be agreat opportunity for those both newly diagnosed and who have lived with the condition for many years to learn something new that could help them self-manage their diabetes.
A patient who attended the conference previously commented: “It was an amazing day, I learnt so much more about diabetes and the information given was easy to understand. The conversations were knowledgeable and full of expert advice and support. Well worth attending!”
The day will consist of a range of presentations on topics such as activity, medication, healthy eating and long term health as well as giving attendees the chance to ask questions directly to health professionals.
Southern Health’s Diabetes Specialist Nurse, Karen Morton added: “This conference is a great opportunity to learn more about diabetes, for those living with this long term condition or those people who would simply like to know more about it. Talks and presentations on the day will address all of the various elements of living with diabetes, so we really will be ‘putting the pieces together!’”
