Colleagues from Southern Health take on challenge for charity

3 April 2019

A team of runners from Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust took to the streets of Southampton on Sunday 5 May, to take part in the annual ABP Southampton Run.

Colleagues from the Trust hosted a stall at the event to talk to attendees about recruitment opportunities within the local NHS Trust.

“We are doing this to support Southern Health’s charity, Brighterway, which does some amazing work and helps to fund some really important initiatives across Southern Health.“ commented Chief Executive and participant, Dr Nick Broughton.

One of the initiatives that recently received a Brighterway donation included the wound clinic at Andover War Memorial Hospital. The donation totalled £6500 and enabled the clinic to purchase new equipment which will benefit both patients and staff.

Rosie Blake, Community Team Lead for the wound clinic in Andover said “The chair has been a great help in the very busy wound clinic. Patients say it so much more comfortable and easier to get on and off.”

Ian Hynd, Head of Brighterway Charity, commented “This is exactly what Brighterway is all about, giving teams the opportunity to provide even better patient care”.
