I have a varied experience within workplaces/environments from farming to boat building working with people from all backgrounds. The last position I held was within the health and social care industry for over five years. Working with people with dementia and mental health conditions, part of my job was to work in conjunction with the families and loved ones to ensure they received the highest standard of care possible. I have in the past volunteered at my local football club Bashley FC as a steward. I have also in the past been a joint treasurer and facilitator for a Mental Health Peer Support Group. I am currently volunteering with the Royal Voluntary Service during the COVID-19 crisis.
I wanted to become a governor to gain insight into this part of the health industry which fascinates me. I also hope to gain a better understanding of the challenges that the organisation and the people accessing there services are having. I am a very different candidate for this position and I believe I can bring a fresh perspective to the role of public governor .I believe that taking on board other people's points of view even if I disagree with it is important .Being as impartial and upfront as possible with engaging with people so that they can have faith that your actions are done with everyone's best interest in mind. The qualities I can bring to the role are Fresh perspective, honesty and empathy.
