#Red4Research day

29 June 2022

Red4Research1.jpgOn Friday 17 June we were proud to celebrate #Red4Research day, which aims to get as many people as possible wearing red to demonstrate their support and appreciation for all those participating, undertaking and supporting research.

Our team of research staff is based at the Tom Rudd Unit in Moorgreen and works at sites across the Trust. #RedforResearch gave us an opportunity to highlight the fantastic work taking place, and to dress up for the day!

For example, did you know that during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic we conducted research into the effects of the virus that has been published by the World Health Organisation? Or that last year we recruited over 28,000 people into our research studies?

We are looking into a wide range of different subjects that could lead to new ways of working and improved outcomes for patients in the future. These include possible new treatments for schizophrenia, whether there are genetic links for those suffer with anxiety or depression, if biological markers can help predict the onset of psychosis, or how binge eating behaviours can be better supported for patients with diabetes.

On the wards, in community teams and behind the scenes, our incredible research team continues to work on healthcare research projects, but we cannot do it alone. Our studies are only possible through your support either as patients or NHS staff. If you’re interested in taking part in a research study or you have an idea you’d like to explore, contact us at research@southernhealth.nhs.uk
