Nurses Day 2.png

Today is a day where we celebrate our Nursing colleagues but also a time to reflect on what it means to be a nurse.

The last year has been extremely challenging for the people that we care for, people that care for us and us as Nurses.  It has touched me personally and made me think about my role as a Nurse as I am sure it has you.

The nursing response to the pandemic has demonstrated the critical role our professions play in making a difference to people’s lives. I have been out and about, working alongside you and talking to people through the last year, I've been inspired by your resilience and your determination. By how, under incredibly difficult circumstances, you still remain true to the principles of being an amazing nurse. I can't thank you enough for that.

It is really important to take the time to celebrate that achievement and I know a number of celebrations are taking place within teams and divisions.

Although it is Nurses Day we recognise that we work in multi-disciplinary teams and you couldn’t do your job without other colleagues so I would like to extend my thanks to all staff on International Nurses Day.

Thank you to each and every one of you
