The Stefano Olivieri Unit is a 15 bed acute admission (short stay) assessment and treatment ward providing care for older people with organic and/or functional mental health needs. The unit is divided into two ward areas, Charlotte ward and Anne ward.

Visiting Hours

• Monday - Friday: 2.00pm - 8.00pm

• Weekends - more flexible (please avoid mealtimes see details below)

Meal Times -

There is a pay telephone on the ward which is for the use of both patients and visitors. The telephone number for contactingpatients is 01962 824315

Melbury Lodge has a pay and display car park for visitors. You may be eligible to apply for a concessionary parking permit, for further details please contact reception staff. Disabled driver parking is available next to the upper entrance of Melbury Lodge.

The railway station is approximately 10 minutes walk from the hospital, buses run from the station to the hospital. Buses are available from the town centre to the hospital on a regular basis .

Beaulieu Ward is an acute admission (short stay) assessment and treatment ward providing care for older people with organic mental health needs. In most cases this is dementia.

Visiting Hours

Monday - Friday: 2.30pm - 5.00pm and 6.30pm - 8.00pm. Weekends: 10.00am - 8.30pm Avoiding meal times

Onsite facilities

The ward has its own garden and sitting area for all patients and visitors. There is also a canteen for patients and visitors to use on site. Through referral it is possible to see a dentist, hairdresser and podiatrist.

Western Community Hospital has onsite parking for visitors. There is disabled driver parking available close to the entrance. There are a number of bus routes with stops near the Hospital

Minstead Ward is an assessment and treatment ward providing care for older people who have functional mental health needs (such as depression, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia) and are unable to look after themselves or be looked after by a relative or carer.

Dryad is a 16 bedded ward providing care for older people who have acute mental health needs and are unable to look after themselves or be looked after by a relative or carer. The majority of our patients have memory needs, where they experience difficulties with daily life. Patients will be treated with equality, dignity and respect at all times.

Visiting Hours 

Dryad visiting is between 10.00am and 8.00pm. Please avoid meal times. However if relatives or carers wish to be involved in mealtime care, please speak to a trained nurse

• Supper             5.00pm - 6.00pm

Onsite facilities

Carers or relatives may escort patients to other parts of the hospital such as the restaurant, garden areas or the shop which sells newspapers, and other basic items. There is a specific telephone for patients which can be used up to 8.00pm for both outgoing and incoming calls. The number is 023 9252 4047.

Gosport War Memorial Hospital has two pay and display car parks, one in Anns Hill Road and one in Bury Road. Disabled car parking is available in both car parks. If you intend to arrive after 5.00pm or at weekends please use the Anns Hill Road car park for access to the hospital.

Buses are available on the road outside both hospital entrances and run to both Fareham and Gosport. Regular buses are also available to and from Gosport town centre.

Daedalus is a 17 bed ward providing holistic care for older peoplewho have acute mental health needs and, on admission, areunable to look after themselves or be looked after by a relativeor carer.The majority of our patients have memory needs, where they experience difficulties with daily life.

Visiting hours are 2-5pm and 6-8pm. Please avoid meal times listed below. However if relatives or carers wish to be involved in mealtime care, please speak to a trained nurse.

The ward has its own garden and sitting area for all patients and visitors. A canteen and vending area are also available within the hospital site. There is a pay telephone in the day room which is for the use of both patients and visitors. The telephone number is 02392894104.

Parking is available in a number of car parks. Disabled parking is available next to the main entrance of Fernhurst. There is a bus stop on the main road outside the Hospital.

Beechwood Ward is an assessment and treatment ward providing care for older people who have functional mental health needs (such as depression, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia) and are unable to look after themselves or be looked after by a relative or carer.

We offer open visiting hours between 10.00am and 8.30pm. We ask that visiting is avoided at mealtimes

The ward has its own garden and seating area for all patients and visitors. An external hairdressing service is available, at a small charge. Minor chiropody, e.g. toenail cutting, is provided by staff qualified to do so.

Parklands Hospital is located off the A340 Aldermaston Road, opposite St Michael’s Hospice. Visitors may use the car park at Parklands. This is a free car park with disabled spaces by the entrance to the hospital. 

Bus – Routes 2, 5, 9, 45 and the link stop near Parklands Hospital or outside North Hants Hospital.

Elmwood Ward is a 22 bedded unit providing care for older people who have organic mental health needs or a dementia and are unable to look after themselves or be looked after by a relative or carer. Patients with early onset dementia may also be admitted if their needs can best be met here. 

Visiting Hours

We offer open visiting hours between 10.00am and 8.30pm. We ask that visiting is avoided at mealtimes

The ward has its own garden and seating area for all patients and visitors. There is a sensory room with facilities offering sensory stimulation, especially improve cognitive functioning. An external hairdressing service is available, at a small charge. Minor chiropody, e.g. toenail cutting, is provided by staff qualified to do so.
