Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease Genetics

Principal Investigator:  Clive Holmes

Study Coordinator: Amelia Abbott

We are inviting individuals with Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease to help with this research.

This will help us to search for environmental, biological and genetic factors that influence the progression of Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. Although volunteering to take part in this research is unlikely to benefit participants personally, it will help us understand more about the processes in the body that cause AD which will hopefully lead to new treatments and methods of diagnosis in the future.

Participants will be asked to take part in an interview. This will involve one or two members of the research team visiting them at home, or a location of their choice.

During the visit they will be asked to complete a memory test and give a blood sample.

They will also be asked to identify a family member or friend who can take part in the research with them.

This person will answer some questions about memory, general health and family history.

The whole visit should take between 1-2 hours to complete.”
