Principal Investigator: Professor Clive Holmes
Study Coordinators: Rebecca Ollington (early onset)
Lena Azbel-Jackson (late onset)
This study will help us to search for environmental, biological and genetic factors that influence the progression of Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. Although volunteering to take part in this research is unlikely to benefit participants personally, it will help us understand more about the processes in the body that cause AD which will hopefully lead to new treatments and methods of diagnosis in the future.
Participants will be asked to complete a memory test and will provide a blood sample. They will also be asked to identify a family member or friend who can take part in the research with them. This person will answer some questions about memory, general health and family history.
The whole visit should take between 2-3 hours to complete.
Who could be suitable?
We are looking for volunteers who received their diagnosis before the age of 70 years old for the Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease Genetics study, and individuals with a diagnosis after the age of 65 years old for the Late Onset Alzheimer’s Disease Genetics study to help with this research.
