Prevalence of Pathogenic Antibodies in Psychosis (PPiP2)


The PPiP2 study aims to understand if some cases of psychosis are caused by immune system problems in some people.

What is involved?

Participants will have a blood sample taken for investigation, and will complete an assessment with one of our researchers lasting about 1 hour. Participants will be paid for their time to complete these.


To take part in this study you must meet the following criteria:

  • Age 18-70.

  • Acute psychosis symptoms: lasting for at least the past two weeks but no longer than two years

You cannot take part if:

  • You suffer from any other neurological disorders including multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, cerebrovascular disease, hydrocephalus, traumatic brain injury, meningo-encephalitis, systemic lupus erythematosus or CNS vasculitis.

  • OR you are diagnosed with primary drug induced psychosis
