Cultural Adaptations in Clinical Interactions

SHFT new logo - blue original

The aim of this study is to investigate the extent to which culturally informed interactions (assessment and treatment) are used by mental health staff in engaging people from minority communities.

What's involved?

You will be asked to complete a survey questionnaire that will take about 20 -30 minutes to complete, asking you about your experiences of interaction with staff from a different cultural background. Once you have finished you can return it to the researcher either at the time the researcher gives you the questionnaire or via post. If you wish to return your questionnaire via post the researcher will provide you with a self-addressed envelope.

To take part in this study you must meet the following criteria:

  • Patients in mental health services (adult and old age)

  • From differing cultural background (non white western background)
