The squad which is made up from players with mental health issues and staff from Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust will play in the league’s Plate Final against Bridge FC on Monday 2 April at Sholing FC’s ground.

Paul Willis, who founded the team just over a year ago said: “This is great news for us. We won against a proper league side last Saturday which has given us a real boost. We’ve gone from a kick about on a muddy field in November 2010 to playing proper games every Saturday – and now we’re through to the final. We may be the underdogs but I think we have the momentum and determination to succeed. We do our very best for each other.”

The Southfield Saints have had support and coaching from the Saints Foundation while Totton AFC has lent the team their stadium for home games.

The game starts at 7.00pm at the Sholing FC ground at Portsmouth Rd, Old Netley, Southampton SO19 9PW.
