Lymington New Forest Hospital says thanks after deluge

Yesterday’s heavy rain put systems and people to the test at Lymington New Forest Hospital.

The reception area was closed for a couple of hours when rain started to come into the building, and incoming switchboard calls were affected for a period of two hours.

No services were affected and patients visiting the hospital all got the treatment they needed although some people trying to call in on the phone lines faced a delay.

Chris Ash, Area Director for Southampton and South West Hampshire who is based at the hospital said: “Staff, the League of Friends, members of the public and patients responded fantastically when the heavy rain caused us problems. I just want to say a big thank you to everyone.

We are on an amber warning at the moment because of the threat of further storms and heavy rain, but we always have plans in place to cope with things like this and we haven’t had to change any appointments, treatment or clinics. I would just urge people to be a little patient if the phone lines are engaged because of the problems there have been.

We have people working on fixing some of the problems caused by the water and they may mean reception desk arrangements might differ from normal.”

The number for Lymington New Forest Hospital is 01590 663000, if you have a number to call on a letter for an appointment then please use that and if you want any more information on the hospital then updates will be on the Lymington New Forest Hospital's web page.
