Southern Health joins the Care campaign

Patient care is at the heart of what we do. We are striving to provide the best possible experience for our patients at every stage of their journey through our services.

With this in mind, Southern Health is proud to have joined CARE, a new campaign driven by the Patient Association and Nursing Standard to improve fundamental patient care.

 

CARE stands for:

  • Communicate with compassion
  • Assist with toileting, ensuring dignity
  • Relieve pain effectively
  • Encourage adequate nutrition

 

The campaign is based around the four most common complaints received by the Patients’ Association; that all patients should get assistance when they call for help, receive assistance with going to the toilet, have their pain addressed and are encouraged to eat and drink.

 

It is a patients’ right to receive quality care in these four areas and we want patients to understand their rights and address any areas of concern using the CARE principles.

 

All our staff are committed to ensuring patients receive the four basic areas of care and we are challenging them to highlight any improvements that can be made.

 

Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust has pledged to support this campaign to ensure that we continue to deliver and improve our high standard of nursing care.
