World Mental Health Day Event - 'Exploring Realities'

Do you hear voices? Do you find it hard to trust other people? To celebrate this year’s World Mental Health Day (Monday 10 October), local NHS trust, Southern Health, is hosting a free event to support people living with psychosis.

‘Exploring Realities’ is set to be a fascinating afternoon at Southampton’s Nuffield Theatre, aimed at people living with psychosis, their families and anyone involved in their care.

Starting at 2.00pm, the event will screen a documentary ‘In The Real’ about the work of a self-help group for people who hear voices. This will be followed by a short 15-minute TED talk from Dr Eleanor Longden* called ‘The Voices in my Head’. The day will conclude with a panel discussion on living well with mental ill-health – involving members of Bristol Hearing Voices Group and representatives involved in peer support, psychological therapies and local research. The event will end at 4.30pm.

Contact Southern Health’s Carol Dibden on 023 8071 7205 for more details or just come along on the day, there is no need to book. Complimentary refreshments and information about local mental health services will be available to all attendees.
