Our policy for handling your information

Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust takes confidentiality and privacy issues very seriously. The Trust has to ask for personal confidential information in order to provide quality care and treatment. This leaflet explains how information about you will be collected, processed, transferred and stored securely and legally. This is called Fair Processing and is a requirement of the Data Protection Act 1998.

The Data Protection Act requires the Trust to:

 Process information lawfully

 Only obtain adequate and relevant information

 Ensure information is accurate

 Not keep information longer than necessary

 Process in accordance with your rights 

 Keep your information secure

 Not transfer your information to other countries without adequate protection
